ALUMINUM BAR GRATING TYPES

  1. Swage– In swage-lock grating, the bearing bars are permanently locked to the cross rods by a swaging process, reshaping the rods.  Using I-Bar bearing bars reduces the open spaces of the grating, yielding a lighter weight and lower-cost grate than rectangular bar grating.
  2. Press Locked– Press-Locked grating uses hydraulic pressure to permanently lock perpendicular notched bars together. It is a clean, smooth grate that provides excellent lateral support.  It is used for architectural grills, dividers and screens.  This type is not recommended for rolling loads.
  3. Close Mesh– Manufactured in a similar manner to press-locked grating, close mesh grating uses closer spacing of the bearing bars.  These are suitable for applications requiring narrow spacing for aesthetic or functional reasons.
  4. Stair Tread– Aluminum stair treads, due to their light weight, high strength, corrosion resistance, rust proof and non-sparking properties, are ideally suited for corrosive environments. They are manufactured using different methods based on the application requirements, including welding riveting and swage-lock.
